A social place,
kept human.
Dawnspace is a social media platform built around conversation, sharing and community. It is a collection of services rather than a single endless feed, with room for public posts, private conversations, files, short video and the odd thing that makes a community feel like its own.
There is room for the ordinary things.
Dawn Threads gives people somewhere to post and talk. Sunup keeps direct conversations moving in real time. File sharing lets useful things travel with the discussion around them.
Spout takes portrait videos uploaded to Dawnspace and gives them a short-form home, while Marlow adds an AI layer to the platform for people who want one.
Then there are the less conventional parts. Dawnar is an internal currency earned through activity and contribution. The Government of Dawnspace gives users a chance to elect a ceremonial President. These things are not necessary to understand the platform, but they are part of what gives it character.
The current database is Legacy, carrying forward data from the 2024 launch. The planned Next Gen project has been cancelled.
Different tools, one place to return to.
Public conversation.
Posts, replies and the everyday rhythm of the social platform.
Direct realtime messages.
A dedicated space for one-to-one and private conversation.
Short-form video.
Portrait uploads can become short-form content through Dawnspace Spout.
Community is more than activity.
Dawnspace supports World Suicide Prevention Day and the wider importance of talking openly about suicide prevention. The platform is a social space, so the people using it matter more than the numbers around it.
The public site keeps that principle alongside the practical things: privacy, support, documentation and a clear record of how Dawnspace is run.
