Company / Leadership

Two people.
One commission.

Dawnspace is led through the Dawnspace Development Commission. The structure is intentionally small, keeping ideas, software development and responsibility close together.

The commission

The Presidency

A ceremonial office, chosen by users.

The Government of Dawnspace is a user-elected government within the community. The President of the Government of Dawnspace is elected by users and serves as the ceremonial leader of that government.

The Presidency is separate from the day-to-day software leadership of the Dawnspace Development Commission. It is a community institution, with its legitimacy coming from the users who take part in the election.

The current Government of Dawnspace can be found on the Legacy platform. The office gives Dawnspace a playful civic layer without changing the practical responsibility for building and maintaining the software.

How it fits

Development and community, kept close.

The commission is the place for product ideas and software development. The Presidency is the community-facing ceremonial structure. Together, the two parts describe how Dawnspace can be both a piece of software and a place with its own culture.

There is no large corporate ladder behind the platform. The structure is small, visible and deliberately easy to understand.
